George Land's NASA-commissioned study in the late 1960s revealed a startling decline in creative genius as children grow older and progress through the traditional education system. This groundbreaking research involved 1,600 children aged 3 to 5 who were enrolled in a Head Start program.

The study used a creativity test originally designed for NASA recruits to assess the children's creative abilities. The results were astonishing:
