The mass surveillance of the US government on foreigners got extended and expanded
The U.S. Senate and the Biden Administration have renewed and expanded Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).
Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (Fisa) of 1978 provides the foundation for foreign intelligence surveillance. The Act establishes procedures for the collection of this intelligence, and a secret court to oversee those activities. Fisa has been amended since to allow for increased warrantless surveillance.
Fisa Amendments Act of 2008: Section 702 requires the establishment of procedures for targeting non-US persons overseas. The government may or may not intentionally target a US person but the NSA has revealed that it does unintentionally collect American communications.
